Update!!

Ok so I really have not updated much since december so I am going to try and go back and put up pics from christmas and then get to today. Ever since Kaulana graduated in December and was job-hunting I didnt really feel like there was much to blog about. But now I have more to say :)

Here are some pics from the last few months...

We lived with Kaulana's parents in Lincoln, CA after he graduated until we moved here to hawaii so there will be a lot of pics!

We had tons of fun making gingerbread houses.

And Maddie had a lot of fun eating her first rice krispie treat. She was definately spoiled by Nanny (that is what she calls Kaulana's Mom).

Here is maddie and her "GOGGY" Nanna had a really good time putting ribbons all over Madelyn and Callie.

In January we got to drive down to southern california and meet up with my mom at my grandparents house. It was so great to see them and they enjoyed seeing madelyn.

I love Maddie's face in this picture with my mom. She was making us all crack up.

Ok, this picture might seem weird but it is hilarious because when Kaulana was little he was really into wearing strange things when they would leave the house like a ghostbuster's backpack, cape, and these exact pair of Mr. potatohead glasses. They were still all streched out from his little head and maddie loved to wear them around.

We had a really warm day at the end of january so we took maddie to the pool at rick and april's place. The water was freezing but she was all about it. We couldn't keep her out of it.

One of the first things that Madelyn would say clearly was "Abbie" She is obsessed so Nanna found her this adorable Addie Cadabbie doll and she loves it. Here she kept propping Abbie up and sharing her binkie with her.

This is the face she makes when I tell her to smile.

The day that we were gonna hear back about the job in hawaii we decided that instead of sitting around the house going crazy we needed to be distracted so we drove to San Francisco and to the beach where Kaulana proposed to me. It was a really fun day and on our way home while in traffic waiting to get on the bay bridge Kaulana got the phone call that changed our lives!! It was so awesome and a week later we got on a plane and flew to HAWAII!! Here are some pics of us on the plane.

This was the view from our hotel room that we stayed in while we found a place. And we actually ended up finding a condo in the same building as the hotel so we are on the same floor as our hotel room was but we are on the other side of the building. I will post up pics of our place tomorrow.

So since we moved here is seems more appropriate to call her by her middle name Kalea. So I am trying to get used to it. It is funny cause as she gets more tan the name is starting to fit her a little more. haha

Kaulana got off work early the other day so we went to the beach by our place. It was so much fun and BEAUTIFUL!!

I love this picture cause it is the first time I did piggy tails in her hair and she was so mad at me. but they looked sooo freaking cute!!

Sorry this is such a huge entry but I had a lot to update!!

Adventures in Hawaii...

I guess this goes along with moving but I cannot find our cord to download the pics off of our camara so when I find that I will put up lots of pictures! For now I just have a fun story that my mom tells me that I need to write down so that I don't forget it.

So for the first few nights we stayed at a hotel. During this time I was franticly trying to find a place for us to rent. We eventually found a condo on the 32nd floor of a building in downtown honolulu. This building is both condo's and a hotel and we just happened to be staying on the same floor just four rooms over before we found this place. Currently we are borrowing one of the company trucks until our 4runner arrives from california so I don't have a car during the day which I actually enjoy. It has been fun walking around with maddie and getting to know the area.

On the last night of our hotel stay I realized that we had to check out at noon and Kaulana would be at work until 7 so we put all of our luggage in the back of the truck and Kaulana took it to work with him. So at noon Maddie and I headed out with the stroller and the rest of our stuff and I was definately looking like a crazy bag lady. We had 5 hours of time to kill until we could move into our new place so We headed to the beach, the mall, and just kinda wandered around Honolulu. This might sound great but it was quite rough with a 15 month old baby who didn't want to sleep in her stroller and actually wouldn't even stay sitting in it.

Once we got to the mall Maddie squirmed until I finally took her out and she just wandered around the stores pushing her stroller with me ( her new favorite game) and saying "Oooo" to all the different clothes and pulling on them. Which I let her do just so that it would entertain her. Then we headed to the beach. It was a super windy day so the beach was a little rough for maddie who just getting pelted with the sand when the big gusts of wind would blow by. It was getting closer to 5 so we started heading back to our place.

On the walk back Maddie started freaking out and would not stay in her stroller so we stopped at these adorable little shops to look around and let her wander around a bit. After a while I decided to just put her in the stroller and eventually she would stop crying... well I was wrong... she screamed and wiggled her way out of the straps on her stroller so I tryed to take her out and with the extra weight on the back of the stroller it started to fall back. Here I am on the side of a busy road with my daughter squirming out of my hands and my foot trying to hold down the front of the stroller. I looked crazy. I then proceeded to walk a half a mile with maddie in one arm and pushing the stroller with the other hand. Finally we took a break and maddie was so fussy... she let me know that she wanted her beach chair to sit on, then reached for her blanket, and then noticed the toothbrush in my purse(remember we were homeless for the day) so here she is finally relaxed in the park looking hilarious. She eventually agreed to get back into the stroller and instantly fell asleep. What a day!!! But I am pleased to say that life is a lot more regular now that we are moved into our little place.

Sorry it was so long but I just needed to get that story down so that I can eventually laugh about it.

Aloha!!!

I know that I haven't updated my blog for a long time but that was kinda on purpose. Lots of things have changed in our lives. Kaulana graduated from Byu-I in December in Construction Management and we moved in with his parents in Lincoln, CA. We had a lot of fun living there and it was great for maddie to get to know her grandparents. While we were living there we were constantly searching for jobs for either one of us. We definately got a feel for just how bad the economy is right now. After two and a half months I finally got a job working part time for SAFE Credit Union and was so happy to have a job but was very sad not to be staying at home with maddie.
Throughout this time Kaulana went to as many job fairs as he could. He even took a train to provo last minute to go to a job fair there. The one that proved to be most successful was the job fair after the Reno Construction Competition in mid February. He met with a lot of companies and one in particular was Swinerton Builders. About a month later on the saturday before I was starting my job we were leaving the theater after watching Alice in wonderland and noticed that he had a voicemail message. That message has been the biggest blessing ever!!! It was the vice president of Swinerton Builders Hawaii. Kaulana called and did an interview on the phone and then they flew him out on the next sunday and back home on monday night. Four days later he got another call offering him the position for Project Engineer here is Hawaii!!
On monday morning they called and made all the moving arrangements for our stuff and car and we flew out on friday morning one week after the offer. We couldn't be happier or feel more blessed! I am so grateful for a hardworking and faithful husband. He is loving his new job and I am loving being able to stay home with our little monkey! I am also so excited that she is gonna grow up where Kaulana was born and lived for the first 7 years of his life!!
