Bringing Maddie Home!!

It was so pretty nerve-racking bringing Maddie home to our little apartment in the blizzard that was going on in Rexburg. Luckily we happen to live on the same road that the hospital is on so it wasn't too bad. My mom stayed with us for a week which was amazing!! She helped so much! She would encourage Kaulana to sleep in our room and since I was so sore from my incision across my belly I would only sleep on the couch and I couldnt bend over to pick up the baby out of her seat so my mom would wake up and pass the baby to me every three hours so I could feed her.

Look at those beautiful lips!! She would always figure out how to get her glove off of that one hand.

Our friends Spencer and Robin came to visit Maddie when we came home from the hospital.

Madelyn Kalea Hansen is finally here!!

My mom arrived on Dec. 14th to be here for the birth and to help out with our new little princess. That night I decided to try and make this baby come as soon as possible so I made a big batch of sugar cookies. Then around 10pm that night while it was snowing like crazy we got all bundled up in our snow clothes (actually I had to wear some of Kaulana's stuff since I was way too big to fit into my own snow clothes) and decided to walk some laps around our apartment complex. I toughed it out through the contractions and we timed them just hoping that they would start being closer together but maddie apparently wasn't ready to come yet. So the next morning at 11am we go to my doctor appointment and the doctor decides to send us over to the hospital to get induced since I am still preeclamptic and it is such a risk for me and the baby. They induced me and 7 hours later I still wasn't dilated or effaced so at 7:30 the doctor came in and announced that we were gonna do a c-section and the baby would be here within an hour!!! I was freaking out!! Here are a few pictures! Sorry if it is too much for some people! I didnt realize that kaulana was going to be standing up taking all of these pictures but I do think it is cool to see little maddie joining our family!

The last few days of my pregnancy...

It took me a while to figure out this whole blogging thing but I kinda did so now I can really announce the birth of our amazing baby girl Madelyn Kalea Hansen! I will start out with a picture of my huge huge belly.

Overall my pregnancy went pretty smooth. In the beginning I was on bedrest for about 5 weeks because of complications but everything ended up good. I worked until about 4 days before Maddie was born which was fine until the end of november when one of my feet started to swell up like crazy it was so funny looking and very uncomfortable. About 8 days before my due date I went to my normal doctor appointment and they discovered that I was getting the onsets of preeclampsia. 4 days later I was put on bedrest and and then on monday dec. 15th (our one year wedding anniversary) we went to a doctor's appt. and the doctor informed us that by the end of today our baby girl would be here.
