The latest project

Yeah I know it has been forever since my last post. I think I am officially the worst blogger ever. We have been very busy lately.

Here is the latest:

After 6 months of living in a high-rise apartment in downtown Honolulu we decided that we really like living in a high-rise and also living in the city doesn't make the most sense for a little family. So when our lease ended at the end of September and after much persuading from my Hubby and the help of my AMAZING in-laws we decided to move into Kaulana's Grandma's house in Kailua.

This might not sound like a big deal but it was a huge project to take on. In the next few days I will put up before and after pictures so you can fully understand but for now I will just explain that Grandma had a lot on her plate with taking care of Grandpa for a few years and living in such a huge house that there was a lot of work to do on it. I am not putting up these pictures to make anyone feel bad or embarrassed about it I am just so proud and excited about the progress that we have made that I want to show it off.

Before we moved in Kaulana's parents Rick and April came to visit and worked miracles on the house and then on the day they left we had the house fumigated. For those of you who don't know there are LOTS of cockroaches in Hawaii and I think they mostly lived here in Grandma's house but we definitely took care of that. Also the walls were filled with termites so the fumigation was very much needed.

I have been so impressed with my Handy Hubby! It is such a blessing to be married to someone who can do QUALITY work around the house. We have had a good time doing this work together. Maddie has been such a great helper but her favorite pastime is now helping Grandma take care of and love on Grandma's three tiny Yorkies.

Maddie has grown up so much. It is so fun to see how loving she is. She is so smart and my favorite thing is that she says "bless you" anytime anyone sneezes or coughs. Also she says "HI" to strangers that we walk past in grocery stores. She is all about Disney movies and her new favorite is Toy Story 3. She is getting better at constructing sentences. It is funny cause she now says " Doggie say..... Ruff ruff" and so on for each animal. For a while she would not answer questions she would just repeat anything I would ask her but she is finally responding with something other then "no". The last thing and the best thing about Maddie is her crazy HAIR!! We have no idea where she gets this but she has beautiful soft ringlets in her hair. We thought that as it got longer it would straighten out but it is just poofing out more and more. It is hilarious and it totally fits her personality.

Ok I changed my mind I will post up some pics right now...

Here are the before pictures:

Here are the After:

Madelyn playing around...

Maddie is in such a fun stage. I always find her in our closet pulling out all of my high heels and trying them on. And then ofcourse the running shoes as well.

We usually have waffles on saturday mornings so here is Madelyn with her waffle and little pile of syrup.
Maddie loves the beach!! She is all about the water and gets so excited when we ask her if she wants to go to the beach.

This after the picture above this one. She was very tired after running around on the beach all day.
This is a picture of the view from our apartment and the rainbows are a regular occurance.

I love this picture cause she is wearing the apron that my mom made for her. She loves it and every night I am cooking dinner she runs over and opens the drawer and hands me my apron and then grabs hers so I can put it on her. It is so fun to have such a girlie girl.

Maddie loves yogurt!!!

Ka'ena Point

Every weekend we explore the different spots on the island. I found a book at Costco that is great for finding all of the secret beautiful places. It is called Driving and Discovering Hawaii. We have seen some beautiful places but have forgotten our camera every other weekend but we remembered it this time so finally I can post up some pictures.

This weekend we drove out to Ka'ena Point and it was absolutely beautiful. You can only drive out so far and then you have to walk to the actual point of the island. It was amazing we saw tons of Albatross birds (that are huge) and we also saw 3 Hawaiian Monk Seals. It was an amazing spot cause you can stand on the very edge of the island and you get a wide panoramic view of the ocean. Here are a bunch of pictures from our trip.

Yeah it was a little bit windy out there!!

Update!!

Ok so I really have not updated much since december so I am going to try and go back and put up pics from christmas and then get to today. Ever since Kaulana graduated in December and was job-hunting I didnt really feel like there was much to blog about. But now I have more to say :)

Here are some pics from the last few months...

We lived with Kaulana's parents in Lincoln, CA after he graduated until we moved here to hawaii so there will be a lot of pics!

We had tons of fun making gingerbread houses.

And Maddie had a lot of fun eating her first rice krispie treat. She was definately spoiled by Nanny (that is what she calls Kaulana's Mom).

Here is maddie and her "GOGGY" Nanna had a really good time putting ribbons all over Madelyn and Callie.

In January we got to drive down to southern california and meet up with my mom at my grandparents house. It was so great to see them and they enjoyed seeing madelyn.

I love Maddie's face in this picture with my mom. She was making us all crack up.

Ok, this picture might seem weird but it is hilarious because when Kaulana was little he was really into wearing strange things when they would leave the house like a ghostbuster's backpack, cape, and these exact pair of Mr. potatohead glasses. They were still all streched out from his little head and maddie loved to wear them around.

We had a really warm day at the end of january so we took maddie to the pool at rick and april's place. The water was freezing but she was all about it. We couldn't keep her out of it.

One of the first things that Madelyn would say clearly was "Abbie" She is obsessed so Nanna found her this adorable Addie Cadabbie doll and she loves it. Here she kept propping Abbie up and sharing her binkie with her.

This is the face she makes when I tell her to smile.

The day that we were gonna hear back about the job in hawaii we decided that instead of sitting around the house going crazy we needed to be distracted so we drove to San Francisco and to the beach where Kaulana proposed to me. It was a really fun day and on our way home while in traffic waiting to get on the bay bridge Kaulana got the phone call that changed our lives!! It was so awesome and a week later we got on a plane and flew to HAWAII!! Here are some pics of us on the plane.

This was the view from our hotel room that we stayed in while we found a place. And we actually ended up finding a condo in the same building as the hotel so we are on the same floor as our hotel room was but we are on the other side of the building. I will post up pics of our place tomorrow.

So since we moved here is seems more appropriate to call her by her middle name Kalea. So I am trying to get used to it. It is funny cause as she gets more tan the name is starting to fit her a little more. haha

Kaulana got off work early the other day so we went to the beach by our place. It was so much fun and BEAUTIFUL!!

I love this picture cause it is the first time I did piggy tails in her hair and she was so mad at me. but they looked sooo freaking cute!!

Sorry this is such a huge entry but I had a lot to update!!

Pictures of Madelyn!

Here are some pictures that we took of Madelyn before we moved to hawaii.
